Orbit’s Teen/Youth division caters to students ages 10 and up who are ready to take their creative training to the next level. The program is designed to be fun and exciting while giving students a taste of all of the elements of the performing arts. The PRO-gram for young actors– Ages 10-13

This exciting program is designed for young actors ages 10-13 who are interested in taking their overall training to the next level. The course will cover all advanced acting fundamentals in characterization, script analysis, body and voice work, improvisation and multiple other performance techniques for stage and on-camera.  Perfect for students who want to make ACTING their prime focus for stage work and for the expanding Atlanta Film Market. This course will be led by seasoned instructor and local professional actress Tatom Pender!

Advanced Scene Study– Ages 13+ 

Wednesday from 5 pm-6:30pm  August 15- May 22

Instructor- Chris Hall

Take your acting chops to the next level by exploring active scene work through research, analysis, characterization and approach to periods and styles. Experienced acting instructor and Orbit Co-Founder Chris Hall will lead students through a year long course in honing acting process specifically geared at scene performance. Exercises and rehearsal techniques will center around partnering and truthful response with the goal of “living truthfully under imaginary circumstances” within the confines of a written/published scene. Attendance agreement and contract with instructor is required for this course as well as a previous advanced acting class at Orbit or a comparable studio.

Joing experienced improvisationalists for the nuts and bolts of comic improvisation, basic improv platforms and other short and long form techniques. Through exercises, games, and activities designed to stretch the imagination, The Instructor will lead each student individually and this class collectively towards a mastery of improvisational technique. The class will begin with basic instruction and then blossom into a full-fledged performance troupe providing monthly shows for the Sandy Springs community and beyond!

Carson Hobbs was in Broadway’s hit show, WICKED, as the Witch’s Mother, and performed nationally on tour and in several regional productions (A Chorus Line, Footloose, The Full Monty, 42nd Street). Her TV and commercial credits include One Life to Live, The Today Show, ESPN, Toys R Us, Bell South, Mastercard, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Inside Edition, and Dance Spirit Magazine. She has taught at Broadway Dance Center, Dallas Ballet Center, and StageCoach (LA), as well as many studios in the Southeast.

Orbit College Preparatory Program-Ages 16+

Mondays from 6:30pm-8:30pm beginning August 13

Rising Juniors and Seniors and gap year students only

Designed for students in their junior and senior year of high school, this 2 hour intensive program will aid young actors in choosing material for auditions for collegiate and University BFA and BA programs in Acting and Musical Theatre. Staff will provide coaching and assistance on song cuts, monologues and interviews. Opportunities for college application counseling will also be available as well as special guest presenters. Ballet for Musical Theatre Dance Technique- Ages 10+

Wednesdays from 3pm-4pm- August 15-May 22

Mr. Orlando Molina is an ABT Certified Teacher with extensive international dance education, stage performance, and teaching experience. He received his Diploma as a Dancer/Teacher from the Cuban School of Ballet and joined the Ballet Clasico de la Habana where he toured internationally. He moved to Peru and worked with the Ballet School of Chiclayo and I.N.C. School of Ballet, later assuming the role of Ballet Master. He then joined the Ballet Municipal de Lima as a principal dancer and later performed with the Cleveland San Jose Ballet and Orlando Ballet. During his time with Orlando Ballet he was appointed as Ballet Master. He later served as the ballet master for the Focus Performing Arts Center and Pulse Performing Arts Studio. Orlando has extensive personal ballet coaching experience, resulting in several students reaching the finals of the Youth Grand Prix.
